Be a sailor for a day! Be a sightseer for a day! Be a photographer too. All these are possible when you let Captain Bill Brown take you aboard his pinky schooner Summertime. Bill is extremely knowledgeable, both about wooden sailing vessels and the environs of East Penobscot Bay. He'll let you participate in sailing Summertime if you have a hankering to. His ship's mate will prepare a warm lunch for you in the galley and you can munch and sip as much as you want above decks or below.
Letting a sea captain take you there is one of the best ways to see the islands and the wildlife around East Penobscot Bay. Captain Bill Brown, a licensed sea captain, supervised the construction of his pinky schooner, Summertime himself. He selected the tree from which the keel was built, thus dictating the size of the boat just like in the days of early coastal ship building. You'll really enjoy hearing him spin yarns and share nautical facts about wooden boats hereabouts.
If you're looking for comforts your stay at Shore Oaks Seaside Inn will be perfect. The rooms have modern amenities, yet with antique furnishings true to the period. It has a living room with fireplace, dining room, library, and a wrap-around porch with a spectacular view of the Bay and the setting sun. A full breakfast is included. For dinner, there are wonderful restaurants either on site or nearby.
No pets on premises, thank-you. Smoke Free. Cottages are just right for families with children.
